Meet the Maker

Why hello there!

How nice of you to drop by!

My name is Marie-Pier Labelle.

I am the Owner, Designer and Maker at Days of August, and nothing in my life had prepared me to be a solopreneur.

After obtaining a Bachelors in Film Production at Concordia University in Montréal, I moved to Australia in 2004 and worked in the camera department on feature films for 9 years.

I've always preferred using accessories rather than clothing to convey my personal style. Making jewellery had been my creative outlet since I was a teenager, and I continued making and acquiring new metal smithing skills between film shoots.

I started Days of August as a side project in 2011, and attracted more attention than I had anticipated. The business quickly grew to a point where it needed my attention full time. I signed off on my last movie in 2013 and jumped into Days of August with both feet.

As Days of August has developed and evolved, its core ethos has remained the same. I use recycled and reclaimed materials to make unique pieces by hand. The business is carbon neutral. The work is made locally. The practices are ethical and cruelty free.

And I am quite proud of that :)

Thank you for your ongoing support! Small business like mine could not exist without you, oh conscious, responsible, wonderful shopper!

Go on and see what we have in store for you!
